On April 12th 2008 Still Willis performed for CC Riders M/C in Citrus County.
It was their 2nd annual Wing Fling. When we arrived the secure fenced area for bikes was already getting full. I noticed a place for camping as we approached the stage and bar area. All I could think was this place looks like a great place for a party, so Lets get started.
The rest of the band arrived and we started unpacking, a couple of the guys from the club pitched in and gave us a hand moving some of the equipment. Sorry I didn't get everyones name.
Once the set up was done I wandered around to see if I knew anyone there. Damn I knew a ton of people. First I saw my old friend from when I wrote for Dixie Biker, Grump from the the Souther Sons put his arms around me a gave me big hug. I asked someone to take our photo and he wanted me to send him a copy so he could put in his family album. That made me feel good. I continued on my journey around the great grounds they have their around the club house. By this time I could smell all the wonderful foods they had going on, Drunken chicken, chicken wings, deep fried turkey and much more.
Next place was the covered picnic table area, I managed my way thru the crowds there to find some more friends, "Mark" and some of the guys from the Viet Nams Vets M/C were parked there in the shade enjoying the absouluty spectacular weather of the day.
I was happy to see so many people I knew and all the clubs together for this event.
I heard another rumble of bikes pulling in so I went near the gate to see who was arriving. They came by bike and cage, it was none other than the our great friends and brothers the USMV M/C. We are tight with these guys and play all of thier events at the club house in Ocklawaha. "Wildman" who had suffered through a stroke and hip replacement was among them, Great to see him and his little dog "Gunner" out and about.
The band geared up and started rocking the stage and crowd. People were everywhere toe tapping to sound of the guys and some classic rock and blues. The food was being served and the line was long but moving along, we didn't care cause the beer was cold and the day just right.
Once people were eating we got "Chip" from Wheels of Man M/C to join us on stage and do one of his little ditties. We like to see him and invite him up to sing when we do. Word has it we will be playing for thier annual event in September. Check back here for more info.
All in all the day was a dream come true for us, we enjoyed the weather, the people from the clubs and of course all the commradity the North Central bikers show us. We want to give a special thanks to Judy and Lenny (Badger) for having us, rumor has it we will be coming back in November to do it again.
CC Riders you rock!!!
